DESPITE fog and some rain a good sized crowd turned out for the first home game of the 1936 Brewer season. Here are some of the dyed in the wool fans going into the grandstand to see the Brewers play Louisville Friday. (Journal Staff Photo)I don't think I've ever seen a photo of the grandstand entrance before. Behind the patrons, we can see one of the Orchard's distinctive sidewalk ticket kiosks.
I love the houses in the background, reminding us that it truly was a neighborhood ballpark.
This photo is a rare street-level look at Borchert Field. Really gives us a sense of what it was like to attend a game.
