This panoramic photo of the 1929 Milwaukee Brewer squad was taken on March 15th of that year at the Brews' spring training home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.They're wearing their wonderful pinstripe uniforms, although without the striped socks they would adopt by 1931.
The future might have looked sunny on that bright March day in Hot Springs, but 1929 would not be kind to the boys from Milwaukee or to their fans. The Brews would stumble to a 69-98 record, good for seventh place in the American Association, a full 42 games behind the pennant-winning Kansas City Blues.I'd love to know more about the boy (mascot?) front and center.
